Bahn Mi Style Sandwich (with any braised meat)

If you have some braised meat on hand, making a quick banh mi style sandwich could not be easier. All you need is some bread, a few veggies, some pantry staples, and it’ll come together in minutes.

Ingredients

Meat filling

  • Braised meat

  • Sriracha

  • Hoisin

  • Maggi seasoning*

Sandwich Components

  • Cucumber, cut into long, thin baton

  • Cilantro

  • Pickled carrots + jalapenos

  • Kewpie mayo

  • Crusty bread roll (baguette, Italian, or kaiser roll)

Instructions

Prep your meat & bread: I set a pan over medium-high heat and add some of the braised meat. Once the meat is starting to crisp, add a squirt of sriracha, a squirt of hoisin sauce, and lastly, a couple of shakes of Maggi seasoning. Slice your bread roll, if needed (and optionally toast).

Assemble the sandwich: Spread both sides of your roll with Kewpie mayo. Next add 2 long slices of cucumber, before adding the meat, the cilantro, and lastly, the pickled carrots and/or jalapenos.

That’s it! Enjoy.

*If you don’t have Maggi, soy sauce would work too.
